How My Football Squad works

Everything about the game in one place - from your first day as manager to winning the league. Use the search or jump to a topic.

Getting started

My Football Squad is a free online football manager. You run a club in a living world where time never stops: players train, matches are played and the transfer market moves - also while you are away. Your goal is simple: build the best club, climb the divisions and win trophies.

1

Set your line-up

Pick a formation and your best eleven on the team page. Put players on their preferred side.

2

Plan training

Choose what the squad trains each day on the training page.

3

Sign a sponsor

A sponsor pays a signing fee, weekly money and a bonus per win.

4

Improve the squad

Buy better players on the transfer market and sell the ones you do not need.

5

Grow the club

Expand the stadium, open a fan shop and keep an eye on the office.

Game worlds and regions

Every world has 7 regions: Denmark, England, Sweden, Italy, Germany, France, Spain. Each region has 4 divisions with 14 clubs. Clubs without a human manager are run by the computer (AI), so every league is full and alive.

The dashboard

The front page shows your next match with a countdown, what needs your attention (injured starters, bids, low energy and more), squad status, form and upcoming fixtures, your inbox and the latest news.

Tutorial and checklist

New managers get a short getting-started checklist. Completing its tasks gives coins.

Time and seasons

1 hour= 1 game day (daytime)
7 daysbetween league rounds
26league rounds a season
198game days in a season

Real-time game days

The game moves forward on its own. Roughly every real hour during the day a new game day starts: players train, recover and age, contracts count down, bids are decided and matches are played. The countdown on the dashboard shows when your next match starts.

The season

The league starts on day 7 and a round is played every 7 game days. Each club meets the others twice (home and away) - 26 matches. After the last round, medals are handed out and clubs move up or down a few days later. Then a short break of 15 days follows before the new season.

Match days

On a match day there is no training for the clubs that play. Cup matches and friendlies can be played between league rounds, so some weeks have more than one match.

When you are away

You do not have to be online. Your line-up and training plan keep working. If you are away for a long time the board notices: first the players lose motivation, then you are sent on vacation and in the end you can be fired. You can also turn on Vacation yourself in the office - the assistant coach then runs the team.

Leagues and cups

Divisions

Each region has divisions 1 to 4. Division 1 is the top. You start in a lower division and work your way up.

Promotion and relegation

The top 3 clubs of a division move up, the bottom 3 move down. Clubs that move up get a division bonus. Tables are sorted by points, then goal difference, then goals scored.

Medals and prize money

The top 3 in division 1 win gold, silver and bronze. Prize money is paid for the top 3 in every division:

Division1st2nd3rd
Division 115,00M EUR10,00M EUR5,00M EUR
Division 210,00M EUR5,00M EUR3,00M EUR
Division 35,00M EUR2,00M EUR1,00M EUR
Division 41,00M EUR500.000 EUR200.000 EUR

Region cups

Every region has its own knock-out cup (Danmarkscuppen, English Cup, Svenska Cuppan, Italia Coppa, Deutsche Cup, Copa de espana). Lose once and you are out. Cup matches give ticket and TV money.

World Winners Cup

The World Winners Cup brings the best clubs from all regions together.

Friendlies

Invite another club to a friendly on a free day. AI clubs accept at once, human managers must accept. Friendlies give spectators and experience but no cards or table points.

Players

Every player has a set of attributes. The most important number is Skill - the overall strength that decides how well he plays.

Skill

Overall strength (up to about 120). It combines technique with attack/defence, consistency, speed, stamina, shooting and energy. This is the big number on the player card.

Technique

How good the player is with the ball, 1-120. It grows with training and playing time and falls when the player does not play or gets old.

Talent

The highest technique the player can reach. A star shows great talent: gold (96+), silver (72-95), bronze (48-71).

Consistency

0-100. How often the player performs at his best. It drops slowly over time - regular training and matches keep it high.

Stamina / Max stamina

How long the player keeps going in a match. Stamina can be trained up to his max stamina.

Energy

Today's freshness in %. Tired players play worse. Matches and hard training cost energy, rest days bring it back.

Speed

How fast the player runs and how much of the pitch he covers. Only improves slowly.

Attack, defence and shooting

Shown on the card as ATT, DEF and SHT. Forwards need attack and shooting, defenders need defence.

Leadership

Leaders lift the players around them - a good captain matters.

Morale

Happy players play better. Morale rises with wins, playing time and team building, and falls with defeats and bench time.

Teamwork

How well the player knows his team mates. It grows the longer he stays at the club (team days).

Preferred side

Outfield players prefer Left, Centre or Right (shown as L C R badges). A player on the wrong side plays clearly worse.

Player card

The card shows skill, position, preferred side, flag, talent, status (injured, suspended, for sale, in your XI) and six key stats. The edge shows the tier: gold for technique 100+, silver 90+, bronze below. Click the button to flip the card and see all stats.

Age and retirement

Young players improve fastest. From around 30 they slowly lose technique and speed, and between 34 and 41 they retire. Great talents tend to play longer.

Contracts and salary

Players have a contract measured in seasons and a weekly salary. Renegotiate before it runs out, or the player may leave on a free transfer. Unhappy players can ask to leave.

Injuries

Players can get injured in matches and training. An injured player can not play until he has healed. A medical center makes injuries heal faster.

Cards and suspensions

Two yellow cards in one match mean a red card and a suspension of 8 game days. Suspended players can not be picked. Friendlies give no cards.

Home grown players

At least 9 of your players should come from your own region. With fewer home grown players the club gets a fine that grows the more players you are missing.

Line-up and tactics

Formation and starting XI

On the team page choose a formation and click a spot on the pitch to pick a player. The picker shows who fits best, and how much a player loses on the wrong side ("-x% here"). An amber ring on the pitch warns about a wrong position or side.

Substitutes

Pick substitutes for the bench. They come on when starters get tired (you choose the energy level for substitutions) or injured.

Captain

The captain (crown on the pitch) should be a player with high leadership.

Tactics

Choose the player priority (which players the auto line-up prefers), the attitude (defensive to offensive) and the playing style. The club's tactics % shows how well the team knows its system - train tactics to keep it high.

Auto line-up

You can let the game pick the best line-up for the formation. Check it before important matches.

Boost

For 1 coin you can boost the whole team by +5% for the next match (button on the dashboard).

Matches

How a match is decided

The match engine plays the match minute by minute using the skill of the players on the pitch, their energy, positions and sides, tactics and morale. A forecast on the dashboard shows the chances based on the two starting XIs.

Replays and results

Every match can be watched as a replay with the ball moving over the pitch, and the full event list: goals, cards, injuries, saves and substitutions. Results are on the results page.

Before the match

Open Match info on the dashboard for the pre-match view: the two teams, their form and the forecast. Check energy, injuries and suspensions in the squad before kick-off.

Spoilers

On match day the latest result can be hidden until you choose Show score, so you can watch the replay first.

Training

You plan training for every day of the week. Each training day the whole squad trains the chosen type - except on match days.

TypeEffect
Overall+ technique for everybody, + consistency
Keeper / Defense / Midfield / Forward+ technique for that position (more), + a little for the others
Tactic+ team tactics, + some technique
Stamina+ stamina, costs energy
Rest+ energy, + morale
Team building+ morale (up to +5), can drop by 1
Speed+ speed very slowly for players under 30 (most for 24 and younger), costs energy. Players of 30 or older do not get faster.

A good week

Rest before match days, train tactics when tactics are low, stamina when players tire in matches, and the weakest position the rest of the week. The coach advice on the training page suggests a week based on your squad.

Personal trainers

From level 2 you can hire a personal trainer for a player. He then improves faster. Trainers cost a weekly salary.

Progress

The training page shows how technique, tactics and energy moved the last 7 days, and technique by position.

No training on match days

Clubs that play a league, cup or friendly match that day do not train.

Transfers

26players max in a squad
21 dayson the list before "buy now"
3rented players max
9home grown players min

Buying players

Players on the transfer market are bought with bids. Open a player and place a bid. After some game days the club decides - the best bid wins. You can raise your bid if you are outbid. A player who has been on the list for 21 days without bids can be bought at the list price straight away (Buy now).

How good a player you can buy

Top players do not join clubs in low divisions. The highest skill you can bid on depends on your division: Div. 1: 120Div. 2: 113Div. 3: 106Div. 4: 99 The Eligible only filter shows just the players you are allowed and can afford to buy.

Filters and upgrades

Filter by position, side, talent, age, home grown and more. An Upgrade badge shows how much better a player is than your weakest starter in that position.

Selling

Put a player on the list at your own price, or quick sell him. Bids come in and you choose to accept. You can also make a counter bid.

Renting

Rent players from other clubs for at least 10 weeks (up to 3 at a time), or rent out your own players for a weekly fee.

Sports manager

Hire a sports manager in the office. Every game day he looks for a better player where your squad needs one. He only signs real upgrades (at least 90% of your starting XI average and clearly better than the player he replaces), buys players that can be bought straight away first and otherwise bids. He keeps 2 weeks of salaries in reserve and spends at most half of the money above that. If you allow it he also puts players you can spare up for sale (also starters who are old, want to leave or when you need money), accept very good offers - at least 30% over the value - for players outside the starting XI that the squad can do without, and release players who are far below the level of the rest of the squad (the same rules as when you fire a player: a little less trust, and the weaker players lose some morale). When other clubs make offers for your players, he mails you his advice. On your transfer list you can also press SM bid to let him bid on a player for you. He costs 1% of the division loan level a week plus 1% of each purchase.

Scouts and free players

The scout suggests players that would improve your team. Players without a club can be signed with a contract directly. Players who want to leave may be sold cheaply.

Youth and academy

Academy budget

Invest a weekly budget in your academy. Now and then it produces new young talents that cost only a small signing fee. The bigger the budget, the better the skill range and potential.

Academy players

Young players (19 and under) can be sent to the academy to develop, and promoted to the first team later. A player who has just been renegotiated can not be sent to the academy.

Too few players

If the squad drops below 15 players, youth players are promoted automatically.

Economy

Income

  • Tickets - every home match. More fans come when you do well and the weather is good.
  • TV money - for every match.
  • Sponsors - signing fee, weekly payment and a bonus per win.
  • Merchandise - jersey sales from the fan shop.
  • Prize money and division bonus - for medals and promotion.
  • Stadium rental and player sales.

Costs

  • Salaries - paid weekly for every player.
  • Personal trainers - weekly.
  • Medical center and academy - your weekly budgets.
  • Loan - interest (5% a year) and weekly payback.
  • Transfers, stadium building and fines.

The office

The office shows your funds, the last 7 and 100 days, a cash flow chart for 8 weeks, where the money comes from and goes to, your weekly costs and all transactions.

Ticket price

The recommended price depends on the division Div. 1: 24 EURDiv. 2: 20 EURDiv. 3: 16 EURDiv. 4: 12 EUR Above it you earn more per fan but fewer come; below it a few more come.

Bank loans

You can borrow money. How much depends on your division and your manager trust. Interest is 5% a year and a small part is paid back every week. You can pay back early.

Negative balance

If the club's money goes below zero the bank warns you. Sell players, take a loan or cut costs quickly - clubs that stay in debt get into serious trouble.

Medical center

A weekly medical budget makes injuries heal faster. The office shows how much faster.

Stock market

From level 5 you can invest club money in stocks on the stock market. Prices go up and down - you can win or lose.

Stadium

750 EURper new seat
10 + size/200days to build
1/10of new seats closed while building
DivisionMax stadium size
Division 180.000 seats
Division 240.000 seats
Division 324.000 seats
Division 416.000 seats

Expanding

On the stadium page choose the new size. The price is paid at once and the build takes 10 days plus a day for every 200 seats of the new size. While building, a part of the stands is closed. When your matches are often sold out, it is time to expand.

Fan shop

Set a season budget for the fan shop. It sells jerseys of your players now and then - good, popular players who play a lot sell best.

Sponsors

How sponsors pay

A main sponsor pays a signing fee when you sign (and again at every renewal), a weekly amount and a bonus for every win.

Requirements

Sponsors look at your division and popularity. Better sponsors want a higher division and more popularity. Some offers are only for your club.

Renewal

Apply for renewal to get the signing fee again when the contract period ends. A sponsor leaves if your popularity drops below its minimum or you fall below its division.

Switching or cancelling

Leaving a sponsor early costs a fee that gets smaller as the contract runs. When the period is over it is free.

Coins

Getting coins

You get 1 coin for logging in each day, coins for levelling up and for tasks in the getting-started checklist.

Using coins

  • Boost the team +5% for one match.
  • Improve a player with coins.
  • Try your luck - turn a card and win coins, players and more.
  • Sell a coin for 500.000 EUR in the office.

FAQ and tips

Why did my team lose to a weaker team?

Check energy (tired players play worse), players on the wrong side, suspensions and injuries, and your tactics %. Consistency also decides how often players reach their best.

How do I improve my players fastest?

Give young, talented players playing time, plan training for their position, and use personal trainers for your best prospects.

Why can I not bid on a player?

He may be too good for your division (max skill 99-120 depending on the division), too expensive, or your squad may be full (26 players).

My money is running out - what now?

Sell players you do not use, lower costs (trainers, medical, academy), sign a better sponsor, raise the ticket price a little or take a loan.

When do I get promoted?

Finish in the top 3 of your division at the end of the season.

What happens when I am away?

The game goes on. Your line-up and training plan keep working. Turn on vacation mode if you are gone for a long time.

Is the game free?

Yes, My Football Squad is free to play for as long as you like.
